Digital Camera -- Canon IXUS 80 IS

Buying a digital camera had been on my wish list for a long time, long enough to make me check out into a store and actually buy one. With limited budget on hand and with a wide variety to choose from, its very difficult to find what you really want.

The best possible way what to decide upon what was needed was to simplify the whole thing. Asking myself the question "What do i require ?" did help out. I required a very compact camera with a pretty good resolution, as many features as possible and at a very affordable price. At the end of all the research and data collection the results: Nikon cool pix (forgot the version), Canon IXUS (80 IS, 100 IS), Olympus M 850 SW and of course not to forget the Sony cyber shot range of cameras.

The amount of cash you have in hand does help out in eliminating a lot of choices. You just need to have either more or less of it. I ended up to be on the poorer side :(. Was just not ready to pay 7K extra for a good LCD resolution. Why would i want a super cool resolution of LCD display on my camera when all i required was good pictures to be viewed on my laptop. So out went Sony from the wish list.

Was very much interested in the Olympus rugged series and decided to check it out at the nearest stores. Trying to find one helped me realize that its not worth the effort. Now the final match was on between Nikon and Canon. Nikon gained in number of megapizels (10 against 8). It also gained in terms of feature (smile shutter) and price (500 Rs less). But the whole point was how cool did it look and i found the Canon IXUS 80 IS far better. it's really cool in terms of its shape color and beauty. Was just not able to put my eyes of it. It looked worth every occasion and showing off (unknowingly i did do that).

So at last i decided to buy it. Just when i thought the price was a bit higher that i wanted to spend, got to know that i would be getting a travel bag worth 3500 free of cost. Don't really know whether it was really worth 3500. At lest the price tag said so. Noting more to say. Just bought it.

Just one bad thing to say about the whole package. No camera pouch was made available with the camera and had to shell out cash for it. It did upset me a bit since ever damn camera in the market comes with a carry pouch except Canon. Sorry to say, looks like canon just doesn't want to completely satisfy anyone.
