Recession has been one of the most widely talked upon themes in offices in the current scenario. Expert advice which seems to have populated over the period of time "Stick to your job, do it well, up keep good relationship with the administration, do not even think about shifting for the next n months". Everything seems to be correct except for the last part of it. What does n signify and how can someone just predict something for you when what you know about yourself is all what matters.
It wouldn't be harsh to state that the times of recession are one of the best possible opportunities to get a job provided you have the right talent and expertise in the area. You know that a company is looking for only the best people in its areas of interest and the probability of finding the right people for the right roles is always challenging for any company.
Nobody is interested in getting people to train on something for a year to get started.
Updating oneself has been one of the key missing factors during the ripe seasons and those who forgot to do that have always ended up on the uncertain side. Those who have made it a point to learn something new everyday are never going to be in trouble waters.
During college there were a few good profs always suggested to keep in touch with the happenings in the industry and look for opportunities to work along. Even though we knew its for our own benefit, very few of them did take that into account. Since time has changed a lot, fresh graduates need to be as competent as people who are experienced in terms of skill and knowledge.
Just one thing to kept in mind is that during recession job destruction outpaces job construction.
There is no end for the learning curve. Keep smiling, keep working hard, keep learning something new everyday.
Anyone who stops learning is old. whether at twenty or eighty.....Henry Ford
