Blunders at Written/Interview - Part 1

Characters: Yash, X-man, Questy

Mistakes at a Written exam or an interview for companies are pretty common especially when you are giving it for the first time. But there is a lot of difference between a mistake and a blunder. Here is one of them

Let me introduce to you Yash. He was one of the most talented guys in my batch. Also known as "The Tutor" in the friends circle since an hour of preaching from had far more impact than 20 hours of self study. There have been incidences when X-man has called him up a day before the exams saying he doesn't know anything, Yash saw to it that X-man clears his exams without a gold medal.

Yash had a small problem. He spoke right on the face of people. We never had a problem since he spoke his mind out and most of the time the correct things. We did warn him a few times regarding this. He was lazy and that made if important for him to get the best results with minimal efforts. He rewrote every program in the history of E&C to fit within a page. A remarkable achievement for us since we always found it really helpful :)

It was the recruitment season at the college and Yash wrote the test for a reputed company. The question paper had 200 questions in all and 2 hours for it to be solved. Yash was smart enough to solve all the easier ones first and move on to the difficult ones. Yash and we were very confident that he would get through the written. The results for the written round were published and Yash was one of the three selected for interview.

Yashs interview was done by a Questy who only believed in getting answers for tough questions and nothing more. Yash walked into the Interview room with his head held high. He was one among the 3 selected out of the 200 odd who had taken up the test. His happiness knew no bounds. Questy asked him a few difficult questions and Yash answered all of them. Questy then pulled out Yashs answer sheet. he marked a few questions which Yash hadn't attempted and asked him to solve those.

Being Lazy in nature. Yash tried to answer all the questions with a single statement answer. The answer which made Questy go furious and put him out of the interview. It also made Yash realize that speaking his mind out does not help out all the time.

This was Yashs answer for the Questions which is not supposed to be made to any Questy.
"If i had to answer these questions, I would have done it in the written round itself"

Yash currently works as an automation expert in a reputed company. His demand for higher salary from the management was replied with 2 freshers substituting his work. He had to be reinstated with an updated salary when the guys gave up after 2 months.
