Onam and the boat rowing experiment

Onam brings with it a lot of joy and happiness and along with it an annual get together for all Malayalam speaking people next door.

Lots of hardwork and dedication is reflected at the occasion.. Though it happens a few weeks after the actual festival, the festive mood is all in the air. A delayed festive celebration is what i can say.

The main even this time has been the Alapuzha boat race replication.. It was one of the better events i ever witnessed. It had hard work, emotion, drama and a lot of comedy. A Few of us were busy preparing for the event for a long time and everything seems to be perfect (Till the day)..

Some last minute preparations and everything was set (Boat prepared well in advance, the oars were ready and all of them were in a really upbeat mood for the event). One of the team members (Appu) was instructed to show enthusiasm and row better. Rest all looked fine.

The event started well with Appu, Ranjith (Not me) and Rahul doing well in the beginning. The rowing speed was supposed to increase gradually and then increase in pace with time and wind up with the guys enacting to win. The rowing went fine till Appu realised that its time to shift gears (A bit too early). Appu started rowing as if he never rowed before.. Now the situation was that Appu was rowing at the top gear and the team was still to pick up.. Ranjith realized that he needs to catch up with Appu or the show is gonna be a flop. Ranjith started to do the same. Rahul realizing that both the buggers are going off track had to follow along. It was a comedy of errors which would never be forgotten. The Video would give you a better idea. It was one of the most funny and hilarious event..

There was some compensation for the team members since their pic ended up on PAGE 3. Thankfully it did not carry these details.
